Greenburgh Launches Its First-Ever Great Pumpkin Smash on Saturday, Nov. 7th — Bedford Schools news

Bring Your Pumpkin, Launch It Through the Air, and Watch It Smash – All for a Good Cause. Get ready for some smashing good fun. The Town of Greenburgh Department of Parks & Recreation is inviting residents of all ages to participate in its first-ever Great Pumpkin Smash this Saturday, Nov. 7, at A.F. Veteran Park in Ardsley. Ever wonder what happens when you launch a pumpkin through the air using a giant medieval-style catapult? Now you can find out! The highlight of the event will be Greenburgh’s brand-new trebuchet, a powerful launching device that will send pumpkins flying through the air before they come crashing down in spectacular fashion. Participants can bring their own pumpkins, take aim, and experience the excitement of watching their pumpkins smash into pieces. But the fun doesn’t stop there. In keeping with Greenburgh’s commitment to environmental sustainability, the smashed pumpkins will be collected and placed in the Town’s food scrap recycling container, giving those pumpkins a second life through recycling and composting. “This is a fun and creative way to bring families and the community together while also promoting environmental awareness,” said Greenburgh Parks & Recreation Commissioner Joe Lucasey . “We have a brand-new trebuchet, and we’re looking forward to seeing some pumpkins take flight! It’s going to be a smashing good time.” Want to see the trebuchet in action before Saturday?
